Glow sticks at the ready. Dubai’s big, bigger, biggest mentality has made it to the dance floor with a slew of funky clubs and mega dance venues designed to keep you moving all night long.
The city's seasonal (open winter months only) open-air super club, BASE Dubai, (taxi: Dubai Design District +971 55 313 4999) draws huge crowds and names to boot - Rita Ora, Jason Derulo, and 50 Cent to name but three.
Another seasonal (open winter months only), alfresco hotspot is WHITE Dubai (taxi: Meydan Racecourse Grandstand, +971 50 443 0933), a huge, tiered rooftop venue beloved of the city's party-hardened and sometimes stage for global acts. Open 11pm-3am, Thu-Sat
Chameleon Club Dubai (taxi: Byblos Hotel, +971 4 448 8000), turns the tables on dark clubs, instead bathing the dancefloor in a kaleidoscope of colour, from hot pink to emerald green and sparkling blue. Its extravagant design features over 60,000 lights, heart-shaped ceiling arches and a suspended DJ booth with acrobatic dancers doing their thing. Open daily, 8pm-3am.
Soho Garden (taxi: Meydan Racecourse, +971 56 822 2559) captures the hipster vibe of London’s Soho, with a swimming pool area, four bars to lean on and resident
DJs. Open from 8pm-3am, Tue to Sun. Closed during the summer months.
The musical genres at Industrial Avenue (taxi: The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi, +971 52 293 5907) span R&B, hip hop, dancehall, grime and tech house across Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri, when it's open from 9pm-late. The same venue also houses The Shoreditch, a bar hidden behind a secret door, named in honour of London district where men old enough to know better ride around on scooters. Expect to see none of that here.
For a slice of R&B and hip hop, head to supper club 1OAK DXB (taxi: JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, +971 52 881 8888). Like its sister venues in New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, big name MCs are often in the house. Open from 11pm-3am on Sun, Tue, Thur and Fri.
