There is currently fierce competition in Dubai for the tag of the city’s best Latin American restaurant, and in the thick of it is Waka (+971 4 444 1455) at The Oberoi, Dubai. Here, Chef Roberto Segura dishes up authentic Latin American flavours combined with Japanese seasonings and using French techniques. It has some of the best ceviche in the city, but make sure you start with a bowl of Wakamole to share. Their welcome twist is the use of smoked avocado.
You’ll be right to love Coya (+971 4 316 9600) at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai on Jumeirah Beach (in particular, its Arroz Nikkei – a mix of Chilean sea bass, rice, lime and chilli – is fabulous), but if you're more a fan of a taco, head down Mexico way at Muchahas Mexican Cantina (+971 4 327 5878), an off-the-radar but hipster hotspot within Holiday Inn Express, Safa.
Over at Grosvenor House in Dubai Marina, pan-Latin restaurant Toro Toro (+971 4 317 6000) is overseen by South American chef Richard Sandoval, who delivers authentic, on-note dishes.
