See Dubai's dancing fountains

Updated: Mar 21, 2019

The world's tallest performing fountain, The Dubai Fountain is the definitive crowd-pleaser. It has thousands of robotic jets hidden beneath the 30-acre Burj Khalifa lake, which shoot water 500 feet into the air – the equivalent of a 50-storey building – while colour projectors work their magic. The mesmerising performances are set to a rotating musical repertoire featuring the recorded likes of Andrea Bocelli and Lionel Richie, as well as Arabic and world music. Whether you’re seeing it for the first or the 50th time, it’s sure to give you goosebumps.

Shows take place daily from 1pm-1.30pm (1.30pm-2pm on Fri) and every 30 minutes from 6pm to midnight. Plump for a prime viewing spot from a lakeside restaurant table or catch it for free from the Waterfront Promenade.

Those after a premium view can step onto the floating The Dubai Fountain Boardwalk – you’ll be just nine metres away from the jets at its closest point. Open from 5pm-11pm daily, tickets cost Dhs20 per person (children must be aged four or above) and are available from the Fountain promenade, Burj Park, and At The Top ticket counters

Alternatively, you can set sail on the Dubai Fountain Lake Ride for the ultimate view from an abra. Operating daily from 5.45pm-10.45pm, tickets are priced at Dhs68 per person (children must be aged three and above).

For fountain fun on a smaller scale, the IMAGINE light, water and pyrotechnics spectacular at Dubai Festival City is sure to delight. Giant aqua screens, surround sound, lasers and the largest water screen projection in the world combine with 30 fountains to create a breathtaking display. Showing daily from 7.30pm-11pm.
