AYA, City Walk

Japanese Fare

Meaning beautiful in Japanese, new restaurant AYA sparks joy with its exceptional cuisine and chic interiors in City Walk. The contemporary Asian menu has been dreamed up Chef Izu who marries traditional flavours with modern plating for delectable Asian fare. Using the freshest ingredient Izu serves up wagyu sirloin with miso caper butter, Spanish octopus and a host of sushi rolls. The outdoor cherry blossom tree terrace is the perfect spot to relax alfresco and snap some Insta-worthy shots. Dinner is served from 7pm, +971 4 343 3330

Documentary screening

In collaboration with Jamaican themed festival Sole DXB, Cinema Akil is showing Vibrations – a documentary that follows Kuwaiti multimedia artist Zahed Sultan as he travels to Jamaica. Whilst there, he discovers how the island ties into his own upbringing, and that of Kuwaiti folk music traditions. We say, arrive to the showing early so you can grab an authentic chai from Project Chaiwala. 7pm-8pm

Ethical coffee

If you’re picking up a coffee today do your bit by choosing Café Nero. The coffee shop chain has removed all plastic straws from their stores and replaced them with their biodegradable counterparts. Along with this, they have teamed up with reusable cup brand KeepCup and offer two stamps on your loyalty card when you get your caffeine fix in a reusable cup. What’s more all the coffee beans are sourced ethically with diligence paid to far trade regulations.
